Belated Happy Birthday Tanya!

I had an excuse for missing this blog post. We were in Quebec and then stopped in and stayed with Tanya and family for 2 nights. No internet for almost 5 days! Yikes... Here is Tanya on the tube with Emma after much cajoling. And as we were towing her with a pontoon boat, we were not able to dump her.
I might as well add a few more pictures. Here is most of the crew in a borrowed golf cart. It seemed most of the trailers had one parked in front of it. How is one to get exercise? That is the cabin we stayed in. We got locked in the first night. Maybe that was the plan?

Here am I trying to dump Emma and her friend much to the chagrin of Tanya. I succeeded and Emma loved me for it. Tanya didn't. Like the hat? I borrowed it from Emma.

We tried out their friends pontoon boat. We all took turns captaining it, even Captain Jack.

Now here is a good picture, taken just before we left. I go in the trailer to say goodbye, and seeing as everyone is lined up on the couch watching the television, I say "Smile for the camera". At least Jack listened. Thank you Jack.

Happy Birthday Tanya!!              30! 30! 30! 30! 30!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Grandma turned 84 today. Sheila brought 2 salads, rolls, a cake, and Grandma over this afternoon, and we had a small supper. Which included a walk up the hill to get the cows with both Abby and Oreo. Happy Birthday Grandma!

Happy Birthday Marty!

Wishing Marty a Happy Birthday today. Marty has worked off and on here since 1994. We really appreciate all he does to help out. Including going to Browns Flats for a load of sawdust before he goes to work in the morning, or planting corn until 10 PM after a day at his real job.

Tarp Shed

Hey All, I have a new I phone! Let's see if this helps with some more regular blog posts.
So we ordered this little shed, 12' by 25', with the idea of having a place to store some equipment, as our shed is getting full, and we all know the benefits of keeping machinery under cover. Tanya was kind enough to pick it up for us, and deliver it earlier this week. Yesterday we put it up. It just took the afternoon for Marty, Jesse and I to erect it. I actually just read the instructions and they did all the work. We set it up over in the gravel pit, out of the wind, and if it works as planned, we might get another.
We screwed the base together in our yard, and then realized they were too wide to fit between the fence posts on the roadway, so Jesse jogged along behind the Gator.

Happy Birthday Stacy!!!

Stacy turns 28 today. This picture was taken a few months ago, when Tanya and Stacy had a girls day out. I think this next picture is great, she almost made it to the Valley View, too bad it was up hill. I hope you have a great birthday Stacy, or should I say had!

Spring Planting and other random stuff...

I should have got the picture of the cow and calf I had to go pick up in the field tonight. I thought I should update the blog, and start off with a picture of the last field we had planted, so as I am taking the picture, Jesse calls for me to bring trailer to get cow and new calf. This was the last field to be planted, after several fixes of tile drains, and the removal of the big pile of topsoil that was piled up 2 years ago. But no more ditch, and it looks great.
Before we planted, we needed to spread some manure on the field, and as we were unable to suck up anymore manure, we decided to take advantage of some extra time this spring has allowed, and clean out pit completely, the first time in 21 years, since we built it in fall of 1990.

So all went according to plan. Until oops...

Flat tire...

Probably should have called CAA. But it only happened once, and after that things went well. We were happy to get it all cleaned out. We also found lots of stuff we hadn't seen in awhile. Lots of chain, one with a snap that still worked, 2 hammers, several insemination tools, and on one of my first pushes across, a socket caught my eye...

Oh yes, we bought that manure spreader, mainly to spread the hen manure we have been getting, but it worked well here too.
We planted our first corn on May 14th. It was up on May 26th, which is also the day we planted our last corn. And we also planted a lot of corn for others in between. Here is the corn as I saw it while getting the cows on the morning of May 26th, a picture of a newly planted field, and a picture of the last field I had planted, with Jesse packing it, and Marty and Ross picking the last of the rocks.

Some more random pictures...
New Brillion seeder, a new diesel tank, a Mother's Day meal, Sarah presenting a Canspell award for the NB Egg Producers, Vanessa riding Banner, and Ross on a tractor.

On another front, Carrie is apparently going to graduate from high school this year. That will mark 25 years that we have had kids in school. Tanya started KG in 1987. We might be going to miss this. This weekend started with the grad BBQ yesterday, and then today we had the Baccalaureate service at the Anglican church in Springfield, after which the grads all walked to the new Belleisle Community Center, and we had an enjoyable grad banquet. A few exams this week might be necessary...
A few pics from this evening...

Happy Birthday Jesse!!!

Well... My main man turns 26 today. Gotta love him, it's great to have superman here on the farm everyday. We've had a great spring, got lots done and Jesse has been an awesome help. More than a help, he has taken over many of the jobs that used to be just mine. Thanks Jesse, and Happy Birthday!!!

Royal Watching

Ok, so I was busy waving and didn't think to take a picture until it was too late. Then I couldn't see the plane but I snapped a pic anyways. And I did get a picture, although small. I was out building a fence on the hill behind the barn today, when the plane that carried Prince Charles and Camilla flew right over the farm. I recognized it from the pictures in today's paper. Now I am trying to find out if they were actually on the plane, or did they drive to Saint John, and the plane flew down without them. Grandma says Camilla changed her attire from what she was wearing at CFB Gagetown, and I bet she would have rather changed in a big plane rather than in the back of a car.
Oh, btw, Grandma and Sheila both got to shake his hand today in Saint John

10 Granchildren, 1 Couch

Last Saturday we all gathered in Johnville for the baptisms of Tanya and TJ's Jack, and Maria and Ben's Henry. Afterwards there was a barbeque at Tanya and TJ's house. Awesome to have everyone together. Too bad Jesse couldn't make it. Congratulations to Maria, Ben, TJ, and Tanya. And of course Jack and Henry.
