School Tours

As we have been doing, for more years than I can remember, we did again this year...kindergarten trips to the farm.

This was our first group, and Willard was very interested. It was really quite comical, as he mingled with the parents around the group of children.

It is always nice to do a tour on a sunny day, but we have one teacher that always picks a rainy day.
Sarah always saves a couple of calves to feed, and the kids love this.

The kids go nuts looking at the calves.
And the calves go nuts looking at the kids.

Jordan brought us a great sow this year, with 2 piglets, now if he would only take them back!..He says next week...
Abby loves the kids, and the kids love Abby.

This oddity attracted a lot of attention, but most were afraid to get too close.

Then we head down to the lower barn.

Santa the sheep is wondering what all the noise is. Yes, the kids make noise.

Buddy the rabbit is a hit, he is so soft, this is Lisa holding him, she was here for 1 tour. Jesse kept getting scratched when he picked him up. Lisa didn't.

The hay mow always impresses the kids.

Sarah, making like a cow, likely explaining the computer feeders.

The Money pit. Any questions?
The kids awaiting the milk truck. But I see another question. It is Dameon, Christina's son, not Jesse's...Christina is in her 2cd year of helping us with the school tours, and we really appreciate all her help. Free. Love it.

Here is Andy(milk truck driver) doing the happy dance. Need I explain the happy dance?

The kids love looking at their reflections in the side of the milk truck.

Then we milk a cow.
Jesse is happy it is only 1 cow.

The milking parlour is full.
After the milking, we go up for treats and a horse back ride.

The kids love it.
The Highlanders are down to watch.

On wet days we stay in the calf barn, while Jesse gets wet in the yard. And sometimes we get thank you's, which makes it feel good.

Happy Birthday Jesse

Today our little boy turns 23! Happy Birthday Jesse!!

What a better day than your birthday, to unplug the manure spreader. And who would have thought, that we could have plugged it with a dead chicken.

Today we finally got a field seeded down, and today I put out some more manure. Notice anything wrong with my tractor?
Well I did...finally...I have spread over half of our manure and harrowed many acres, but tonight as I was loading my last load I noticed something amiss.

Anyone see it yet?

Another Mother of a Day

We had a great day here celebrating Mom's day
Sheila & Art came down from Nackawic, Victoria & Brad came from Fredericton, Grandma came over from Hampton, and of course Jesse and Carrie were here. Stacy & Gilbert stopped in for a bit, and Kara brought her Nanny a present.

Stacy didn't stay long enough for the Mother picture, so we had to search the archives.

And Tanya didn't even come, so we had to search for a good one of her.

And we were happy to have Dan, who brought Katelyn along.

Spring Work

On Monday and Tuesday this week we were able to get a bit of our spring work done. Then it started raining again. Here I am spreading manure with the new spreader.

And here is my view from the tractor.

Catching Up

So you see why there has been no posts all week! We went to Ottawa 2 weeks ago, and stopped at a Costco in Quebec on the way home. Gotta love Costco and Quebec beer prices!

We left here Thursday, April 23rd, and went to a meeting in Sussex, then an open barn in Petitcodiac, then up to Sheila & Arts for supper. Then on to Tanya's for the night. Friday we drove up, stopped near Magog and picked up Mike & Taylor. Had a beer, or 2, with Chris, then on to Ottawa. We might have enjoyed a beer, or 2, again that night. Saturday we met up with Brigitte, checked out her house, and she came over for a beer can chicken, or 2. I think we had a beer then, or 2. Then a bottle of wine, or 2. I know it was 2 chicken.

Sunday was David's birthday..17..yikes..1 year till he is legal in Quebec. No matter, he has a good ID and is legal everywhere now. We went to Kelsey's for a birthday supper Sunday night, and gt a 20% discount because David works there. Cool. Good meal too.

Jim & Mary Anne took Monday off, so we went for a drive. It was 31 degrees that day, so I had to borrow a pair of shorts. We checked out the Rideau Canal, and some other nice places, on the way to Brockville, where we stopped for a beer. We missed the cheese place that Sarah wanted to see, as Jim was 100% sure it was closed. It was open. But we had a good day.

On Tuesday we met up with Kelly at her small animal clinic, then stopped at a number of farm equipment dealers, and after a really nice drive through rural Ontario and Quebec, we got to Greg & April's. We had a great supper with them, and a wonderful visit. No pictures though, because Greg is in such great shape, it would make me look bad. Like worse. I'm gonna start walking around the block again. Soon. Actually, no cameras were out. Your loss. He looks good.
